We’ve been working closely with schools for over 5 years, and have delivered over a million lessons. We’re fiercely dedicated to providing life-changing tuition that creates better academic outcomes for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
How many pupils and schools can we work with?
30,000 pupils in 600 schools.
Who are our tutors?
Tutors are bright undergraduates from leading universities. They are carefully selected, trained and hold an A/A* at GCSE or A‑Level in their tutoring subjects.
How do we recruit our tutors?
Tutors apply online. If they meet our approved university and grade requirements, they’re then personally interviewed to check for subject knowledge, communication skills and ability to empathise and build rapport with students. Only 1 in 8 applicants are accepted, and all tutors hold an Enhanced DBS certificate.
How do we train our tutors?
All tutors complete initial training before they can deliver a lesson. The MyTutor Academy online training programme, which we’ve created with qualified teachers, includes modules on lesson planning and resources, safeguarding, identifying learning gaps, and building relationships. Tutors also receive ongoing training and feedback based on lesson observations.
How will we communicate with you?
Our dedicated Customer Experience team is on-hand to support you throughout your programme, with regular updates. You can contact us by email, phone and live chat. The MyTutor platform also allows you to get an up-to-date view of students enrolled, upcoming lessons, attendance data and tutor lesson reports.
How will we keep track of pupil progress?
After each lesson, tutors provide a lesson report detailing topics covered, progress made, and areas to work on. We also provide you with a monthly feedback template, where you can share feedback on pupil progress, and flag any issues. This shouldn’t take more than 2 – 3 minutes per pupil.
