TalentEd provide high-quality tuition to learners who otherwise could not afford this support. We believe teachers deliver the best learning, which is why all our tutors are qualified former teachers (QTS or equivalent), and most have 10+ years classroom experience.
We partner with schools nationwide both online and in person to provide a tailored programme of support to pupils as part of their overall Pupil Premium strategy. Since 2012, we have helped thousands of disadvantaged young people realise their full potential.
How many schools can we work with?
750 pupils in approximately 40 schools.
Who are our tutors?
Our tutors are all qualified former teachers. Of the current cohort, three quarters have at least 10 years of teaching experience.
How do we recruit our tutors?
We have a highly competitive application process – only 5% of applicants become approved TalentEd tutors. Stage one is an application form covering their background, skills, and motivation. Stage two is an interview with our team. The final stage is background checks (enhanced DBS and two references), before beginning our induction programme.
How do we train our tutors?
Our tutors are qualified teachers, so they already have strong pedagogical skills. Our training covers techniques for being effective in small groups and working with schools to develop a targeted learning plan. It also covers our expectations, processes, safeguarding and diversity. Peer observations and feedback ensure tutor progress is ongoing.
How will we keep track of pupil progress?
Baseline, mid-point and end-point student surveys assess non-attainment progress. End-of-session pulse checks collect student feedback, while tutor session reports capture topics covered, student-level progress, and concerns. We also require predicted and actual student grades. Weekly reports share feedback from the week, termly reports compile all collected data to date.
